Ayurveda is an ancient Indian Veda that originated about 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda is a combination of ‘Ayur’ means ‘life’ and ‘Veda’ means ‘science’ according to Sanskrit. The new translation of Ayurveda can be “the life of science.”

The doshas or constitutional type is energy that determines your health regarding health boost, managing diseases, maintaining overall health and wellness.

Ayurveda also helps you adopt healthy practices that make you stronger from within and maintain overall health and lifestyle. ● Vata (space and air): Vatas are defined as creative, intense, or expressive. Attributes include dry, light, cold, and rough.

● Kapha ( earth and water): Kaphas are often described as calm, loving, or lethargic.

Attributes include moist, heavy, soft, and static.

● Pitta (fire and water): Pittas are described as intelligent, joyful, and driven. Attributes include sharpness, hot, liquid, and mobile.

Once you identify your dosha as you can then embody your qualities according to your doshas. An Ayurvedic doctor can advise the right combination of foods to balance the dosha and can make your diet more effective.

An Ayurvedic doctor can help resolve your doshas by advising some of the herbs necessary for it. You can also take cues about your doshas online. Regardless of any of the doshas as there are some of the Ayurvedic practices used for mindful eating:

  • Eating food mindfully. Avoid talking, laughing, and concentrate totally on your meal.
  • Eat slowly to enjoy the taste of the food.
  • Eat only when your previous meal gets digested.
  • Eat a proper quantity of food to satisfy your hunger but avoid overeating.
  • Finish your meal with pungent foods (like onions), astringent (like apples, tea), and bitter food items (like celery).
  • Try to intake all the six rasas of food at every meal (incorporate foods that are sweet, salty, and sour).
